Who is the Developer of Halo Infinite?
The developer of Halo Infinite is 343 Industries (343i). The Halo franchise was purchased by Microsoft from the original developer Bungie and 343i has ran with it ever since.
According to Xbox Dynasty Halo Infinite has a budget of $500 million, making it the most expensive video game project EVER. A lot of this figure I imagine will be from the development of the new Slipspace Engine which presumably will power the franchise for at least a decade.

Is Halo Infinite Open World?
CONFIRMED – Halo Infinite has been confirmed Open World.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but several rumors and theories have emerged based on the trailers posted below. During the trailers there are moments where Master Chief appears out in the open, leading many to speculate on the open world nature. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement or leak for confirmation but this would be a cool direction for the Halo franchise to go in.
I personally believe this open world idea is nearly confirmed due to a job posting for a “Lead Software Engineer – Sandbox“.
The 343i have developed a new engine from the ground up for the Halo Infinite title named ” Slipspace Engine“. It will remain to be seen if this engine is for an open world.
Halo Infinite Story
The Halo Infinite story is said to focus back around The Master Chief! After past forays exploring other characters with lukewarm fan-fare they’re turning things around and revisiting the core of what made Halo great.
343i has confirmed that the story line will take place after the events of Halo 5. This will essentially be the third chapter of the “Reclaimer Saga”. The art style for Halo Infinite will draw inspiration from the most iconic portions from the Halo franchise.
Halo Infinite Antagonist Atriox
At least one of the primary villians has been revealed: Atriox. He is a member of the banished and it seems they’ve taken control of Zeto halo. Certainly regaining control of the ring will be a focal point for the Halo Infinite story.

Pre-Halo Infinite Story – Halo 5
Ok, so where exactly did we leave off? Halo Infinite takes place after the events of Halo 5. The story-line of Halo 5 largely revolves around Cortana (an artfiicial intelligence), Cortana plans on using the Guardians to achieve peace through forcible disarmament. Many AI’s across the galaxy join Cortana, while Master Chief attempts to convince her to stand down.

Eventually Cortana begins shutting down everything with the help of the other AI’s. The USNC Infinity (the USNC flagship created using advanced technologies from the Forerunners and and Covenant) narrowly escapes Cortana and begins jumping through slipspace to avoid detection.

Between Infinity and the spartan groups of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris they may be the only hope for humanity in the battle versus Cortana.
Halo Infinite Story – Shadows of Reach

The recently announced book penned by Troy Denning, takes place after the events of Halo 5. The description is as follows:
October 2559. It has been a year since the renegade artificial intelligence Cortana issued a galaxy-wide ultimatum, subjecting many worlds to martial law under the indomitable grip of her Forerunner weapons. Outside her view, the members of Blue Team—John-117, the Master Chief; Fred-104; Kelly-087; and Linda-058—are assigned from the UNSC Infinity to make a covert insertion onto the ravaged planet Reach.
Their former home and training ground—and the site of humanity’s most cataclysmic military defeat near the end of the Covenant War—Reach still hides myriad secrets after all these years. Blue Team’s mission is to penetrate the rubble-filled depths of CASTLE Base and recover top-secret assets locked away in Dr. Catherine Halsey’s abandoned laboratory—assets which may prove to be humanity’s last hope against Cortana.
But Reach has been invaded by a powerful and ruthless alien faction, who have their own reasons for being there. Establishing themselves as a vicious occupying force on the devastated planet, this enemy will soon transform Blue Team’s simple retrieval operation into a full-blown crisis. And with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance, mission failure is not an option….
To summarize: USNC Infinity orders Blue Team to the planet of Reach. On Reach they’re looking for clues among the rubble to find a way to defeat Cortana.
What we don’t know is if the events of Shadows of Reach take place before Halo Infinite or if it’s part of Halo Infinite’s story as well. We’ve seen cut-scenes from Halo Infinite which appear as though they could be from Reach. Certainly part of Halo Infinite will still take place on Reach so perhaps Blue Team never discovered what they were looking for in “Shadows of Reach”. The book is slated for release on the 22nd of September.
Halo Infinite Trailer Easter Egg
Based on the trailer (see all the trailers below) we know that at least a portion of the game will take place on a Halo Ring as well as some action on planets as well.
We saw a Halo Ring destroyed, or at least partially destroyed in the trailer. Presumably throughout the campaign we’ll learn the events leading up to the damaged ring, what Master Chief was doing in space, and how Cortana will play into the story line.
Halo Infinite – New Sidekick – Brohammer

The Halo Infinite trailer brought us another sidekick character: “Brohammer”. He is the one who found Master Chief in space and revived him so-to-speak. Something to keep in mind is that the first characters Master Chief is introduced to typically meet their ultimate fates: The two technicians in Halo: CE, the Armorer in Halo 2, Johnson in Halo 3, and Cortana in Halo 4. We’ll see if this character meets a similar fate.
Slipspace Engine Details
This is what the 343i team has given us so far regarding the Slipspace Engine:
- New levels of emotion: Leading edge technologies convey moving emotional performances with truly organic, believable fidelity.
- The Halo Universe comes alive: Intuitive and powerful tools let fresh creators and industry veterans focus on bringing worlds vividly to life.
Halo Infinite MicroTransactions
Several keen observers beat us to it and noticed a job listing mentioning the development of microtransactions. Loot boxes seem to be the go-to microtransaction but it remains to be seen in what way Halo Infinite will utilize this system. Another possibility is something similar to Fortnite where you can purchase one-off play skins and models.
Halo Infinite Weapons
As recently seen during the gameplay video release.
- Battle Rifle
- Needler
- MK50 Sidekick Pistol
- Shotgun
- VK78 Commando (automatic USNC Rifle)
- Ravager (Banished Weapon,
- Pulse Carbine
- Mangler
- Spike Grenade
- Energy Sword
- Lightning Grenade? (Stun Grenade – not sure what the official name of this one is as of yet)
The information regarding the weapons for Halo Infinite comes at us in the form of an announcement from Nerf. We discussed it all in a post here.

Halo Infinite NERF Halo SPNKr?

This is the SPNKr rocket launcher but it certainly more looks like a Magnum pistol to me. Not sure if someone just made a mistake here or am I missing something?
Halo Infinite Vehicles
Ok, so here we go again this time for the vehicles in Halo Infinite…once again our info is courtesy of a toy company. Mega Construx announced their Halo Infinite line of toys with three entries thus far:
Halo Infinite Mega Construx Mongoose

Halo Infinite Mega Construx Pelican

Halo Infinite Mega Construx Warthog

What is the Budget for Halo Infinite?
As leaked by XBox Dynasty the budget for Halo Infinite has been set at $500 million dollars. If this rumor is true is would place Halo Infinite as the most expensive video game EVER produced. For comparison the most expensive video games ever made are:
- Grand Theft Auto V (Budget $265 Million) …
- Star Wars: Old Republic (Budget $200 Million) …
- Destiny (Budget $140 Million) …
To have Halo Infinite at close to double the budget for Grand Theft Auto V is truly staggering and definitely shows the commitment by Microsoft to have Halo as the flagship title for the upcoming Xbox Series X release.
Halo Infinite Leaks
On the 18th of September 2019 Grimbrother One of 343 industries posted a Cannon Fodder blog article with some details on Halo Outpost Discovery.
For those who do not known Halo Outpost Discovery is: “a touring fan experience, brings the Halo video game universe to life. This one of a kind entertainment attraction offers a wide range of thrilling and authentic in-universe encounters for the whole family to enjoy, from captivating museum shows and exhibits to interactive ‘training’ games and experiences.” as described by the creators: Falcon’s Creative Group.
While nothing in the Outpost Discovery has been confirmed to be content specified for use with Halo Infinite it would make sense that it at least could be used for it given their development timelines.

Leak – Sprint Returning to Halo Infinite?
It has only been a few short days since our last leak announcement the “grappling hook” and here we are with another. Similarly this discovery was brought to us in a similar manner. 343 industries released a video which was dissected and this was discovered….
Basically there’s some discussion on Twitter with comparisons between what was released in the recent 343i clip and how the sprint mechanic worked in Halo 5. Specifically people are commenting on thumb placement on the Halo Battle Rifle and noticing differences between the two clips.
Several people within the thread believe those in the 343i clip are just playing Halo 5, but @Druk_RN goes on to address that as well:
For everyone saying its halo 5, they are using placeholders for the br and the animation is completely different than the sprinting animation in halo 5. Also Heinz is testing it, 343 doesnt work on h5 anymore and Heinz joined 343s pro team to develop infinite after Atlanta 2018
So there you have it: sprint may be making a reappearance for Halo Infinite. This certainly is not definitive proof by any stretch of the imagination but given how first person shooters have evolved over the past decade a sprint function seems fairly standard.
Let us know what your thoughts are in the comments. Are you for or against sprint in Halo Infinite?
Leak – Grappling Hook in Halo Infinite?
For those of you unaware HaloFollower on YouTube just released a video (embed below) which dissects 343 Industries’ recent clip “We Are 343 Industries”. In it he was keen to notice some possible Halo Infinite footage and leaks. After some nifty editing you can clearly see a “Grappling Hook” item in what appears to be a very early trial of Halo Infinite. Now whether or not this was intentional or not we may never know but exciting information all the same.

What are your opinions on a possible grappling hook being added to the game? Let us know your thoughts!
