It was way back on the 23rd of January when we discussed the epic drop-off of active players across the newly released Halo: Reach PC. Halo: Reach for The Master Chief Collection was initially a huge success with a player base greatly exceeding even the highest of estimates. The player base peaked at 93,000 active players at a single moment, but with each passing week that number dwindled down. Last week even saw an all-time low of approx 1600 active players.

Did Halo:CEA MCC PC Recover The Player Base?
This was the question many of us were waiting for the answer to, and after almost a week of Halo:CEA we feel like we have it.

As you can see peak players shortly after the release of Halo:CEA hit 34.6k. This was just over one third of the all-time peak reached when Halo:Reach came out for The Master Chief Collection. Numbers have already been on the decline with active players now below the 9500 mark.
Halo The Master Chief Collection Problems
As it stands now it seems we’re a few weeks away from a non-existent player base as before the release of Halo:CEA. If things continue on track each subsequent release of the Halo: MCC may result in similar player base drop-offs. 343i may need to ramp-up the marketing campaign to revitalize interest before Halo 2’s release. The Halo 2 title is one of the greatest of the series and certainly a favorite among the community, lets hope the 343i team gets things going for us!
Cheers,
